Objectives

This intensive workshop is designed to address the clinical management of patients with Head and Neck Lymphedema (HNL), frequently following surgery or radiation for the treatment of head and neck cancer. This workshop provides the academic and hands-on foundation to successfully implement appropriate therapeutic post-operative and post-radiation intervention techniques to reduce symptoms associated with HNL.

Pre-requisites

This 2-day advanced course is open to Certified Lymphedema Therapists (CLT's). All participants need to show proof of completion of a CDT certification program from one of the recognized schools.

This course is also open to Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP's). This course is approved with ASHA.

Tuition

Duration

This course is 2-days in length (14 contact hours). The classroom hours are 8:00am – 5:30pm on the first day and 8:00am 4:00pm on the second day. There will be approximately one hour for lunch every day.

Continuing Education Credits (CEU's)

This course is 14 Contact Hours. CEU's are available. Each state and profession is different, so please contact our Admissions Department for more detailed information regarding CEU approvals. Academy of Lymphatic Studies is an approved provider for the AOTA and NCBTMB.

What to Bring

  • Bring your textbook (if you have it).
  • Two sheets to cover the treatment tables and draping.
  • Pen/Pencil/Highlighters, as these may be useful for highlighting your manual.

All other class materials will be given to you on the first day of class.

What to Wear

Certain techniques that are practiced during classtime require direct contact with the skin. Please have the following items available for class labs:

  • Ladies: Bathing suits, halter-tops, sports bras, shorts
  • Gentlemen: shorts, or bathing suit.

It is recommended you wear these items under comfortable clothing. The days can be long, so we want you to be as comfortable as possible. You may also want to bring a light jacket with you to class. Classroom temperatures can be difficult to regulate.
