You have completed a 135 hour Complete Lymphedema Certification Course (CLT); ACOLS continues to be dedicated to providing the best training for therapists to treat individuals affected by lymphedema. Our ALM course furthers your education and expands your skill set with detailed instruction in elastic taping and advanced bandaging techniques for lymphedema, detailed treatment techniques in the management of lymphedema affecting the head & neck, as well as wound care for skin damages associated with lymphedema. Your CLT-ALM designation will alert physicians to your advanced qualifications and allow you to treat a wider patient population.

The Course

This advanced level course begins with a 8 hr at home online review of the anatomy of the lymphatic system prior to attending the live 6 day lecture. The live course (ALM) consists of three sections: ACOLS Lymphatic Correction Using Elastic Taping/Advanced Topics for Lymphedema Management, ACOLS Management of Lymphedema of the Head and Neck and ACOLS Fundamentals of Wound Care for Lymphedema Management.

The ALM course provides instruction on advanced topics of Lymphedema Management, including but not limited to: Head and Neck Lymphedema (HNL), Lymphatic Correction Using Elastic Taping, Advanced Bandaging Techniques, Advanced Modality Treatments – Deep Oscillation Therapy, Lower Level Laser Therapy “LLLT”, Physiotouch, Fluoroscopy Guided MLD, Genital Lymphedema Management, Surgical Interventions for Lymphedema, Prophylactic Lymphatic-Venous Anastomosis, Vascularized Lymph Node Transfer (VLNT), Lymphatic Venous Anastomoses (LVA), Suction Assisted Protein Lipectomy (SAPL), Debulking Lymphedema Surgery, compression pumps, postoperative and postradiation intervention techniques, circulatory and integumentary systems, wound assessment, wound care and more.

Alumni students who have already completed the ACOLS Management of Lymphedema of the Head and Neck course can receive credit and only take the remaining two sections to qualify for the new Advanced Lymphedema Management (ALM) designation.

The 6 day course can be taken in three separate 2 day sections but all three sections (Management of Lymphedema Affecting the Head & Neck... Lymphatic Correction Using Taping Methods/Advanced Topics for Lymphedema Management... Fundamentals of Wound Care for Lymphedema) must be completed within 18 months to achieve the ALM designation. Only the Management of Lymphedema Affecting the Head & Neck is available for separate CEU credits (14 hrs) at this time if taken separately

The course will be taught by ACOLS instructors who are CLT certified licensed physical therapists and instructors teaching the Fundamentals of Wound Care for Lymphedema section are also certified in wound care.

The course is open to Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) certified PTs or OTs only. Must be previously CLT certified through either the Academy of Lymphatic Studies, the Norton School, Klose School or other LANA approved provider of the 135 hr CDT certification course.

Pre-requisites

This 6-day advanced course is open to Certified Lymphedema Therapists (CLT's). All participants need to show proof of completion of a CDT certification program from one of the recognized schools. ALM outline 2018.pdf

Tuition

The tuition for the Advanced Lymphedema Management (ALM) Certification course is $1450.00. A minimum deposit of $500.00 is required at the time of registration and will secure your spot in the course. The balance of the tuition is due thirty (30) days prior to the first day of class. Students who have already taken ACOLS Advanced Lymphedema Management 2 day course and/or ACOLS Lymphedema of the Head & Neck course (HLN) can receive partial credit for tuition and only complete the missing section(s) to receive ALM certification.

We offer an Alumni discount of 10%. Financing options and payment plans are available if needed.

Duration

This course is 6-days in length (50 contact hours). The classroom hours are 8:00am – 4:30pm. There will be approximately one hour for lunch every day

Continuing Education Credits (CEU's)

This course is 50 Contact Hours. CEU's are available. Each state and profession is different, so please contact our Admissions Department for more detailed information regarding CEU approvals. Academy of Lymphatic Studies is an approved provider for the AOTA, NCBTMB and various state professional boards. Please call for details.
